Monday Fun Day

On Monday this week we had a wheels day. It wasn't really a wheels day for the senior syndicate because the middle school kids were on there wheels. So we only played games the whole day some of the game we played were capture the flag, T-ball and we also had a chill zone
that had some board games that we could play.

On the day we had a lot of fun playing and hanging out with my friends. Some of the kids were really board because it wasn't going there way. The highlight of the day was doing no work just having fun the whole day. The challenging parts were when I was scared to bat in T-ball because I was scared people might laugh if I do a mistake but I did a good job and I was so proud of myself.

Netball

My favourite highlight of the year was getting to be in the Waikowhai Primary school's netball team. On Saturday mornings we had to go to the windmill courts to play against 1 or 2 teams. At the end of the season we placed 2 in all of the schools that played. When the season finished we were so sad but then we found out that we had two teams that were going to zones. When we started we did so well then at the end both our teams came first in zones.

Gala Day Thinking Hats!

Hello blogging world, last week we started a slideshow about our gala day. This is to Reflect what we did in our 6 thinking hats. When we were done writing we had to add some colours, pictures and backgrounds. In the process some parts were really easy and some were hard like writing about what the negative things because everything was perfect.

The slideshow had questions like what do we have to improve on and what we did well.
I forgot to say we were a success we made 13,400 dollars.

Novel Study

A few weeks ago we were given a book for our reading activity. I got a book called Dunger. With this book we had to read it then we had to write a review about it. My book was about two kids called Melissa and William they were promised a trip to queens town but when the time came there parents didn't have enough money. Then the kids were trapped into going to their grandparents Bach to clean. They were promised 1 thousand dollars each. At the end of the book they were in a hospital waiting room because their grandma had low blood pressure when the kids parents found they came. William was sleeping when he woke up he said he wasted 7 hours of his day.

Did they get money?

Waitemata Soap!

In the few past weeks of school Te Waka Ako has been preparing things for our school gala. Our school gala is to raise money for our junior kids playground. .Waitemata  is making soap our soaps have different smells and colours some even have glitter. Some of the soaps are made of Shea butter and some are glycerine. Our Different smells are cotton candy, chocolate fudge, Ginger, Mango and Tangerine, mandarin and tangerine, Lemon, Oatmeal and Shea butter, Orange and mandarin, Triple butter last but not least lavender. We took a long thinking about how we were going to package them then Mr Ross came up with Idea of putting the smaller ones into shells and the bigger ones on a tray. We also had to make logo and labels. In the process of packing soap was the hardest because it was so hard to tie a ribbon around the soap. The easiest part was making the soap.
To make soap first you need to get some Shea butter then you put it in the microwave for a few minutes then take it out and put it into molds be quick and wait for them to harden then you can you them.

NZ Journey

At the start of the term our teachers made us a slideshow that was full of maths it was called NZ Journey. The Journey was about travelling to the different country's that were on the slide. The country's that we had to travel to from Auckland were Dunedin, Invercargill, Queenstown, omaru, Christchurch we had to catch a ferry to wellington then we went to Palmerston north
,  Rotorua then we got back to Auckland then cape Reniga and our trip was finished. In the Beginning we had to estimate how much money we were going to use I said 7000 dollars but ended up using 6133.32 dollars. We also had to hire a car I hired a juicy rental so I could sleep in it and not waste money on hotels.

Our daily budget was 500 hundred dollars a day and we had a lot of fun activities to do in each country's they were expensive and on some of the slides it said you had to go to places that were 200 hundred dollars and some that were under 20 dollars and they were boring.

Nz Journey, Math

Kia Ora, last week Mr Ross made us a slide with a whole lot of maths. On one of the slides we had to calculate how much gas we are going to use when we travel we even had to find out how long it takes to get there. There was about 5 or 6 slides that was in between every forth slide and it was called a daily budgeting and we had to add up all the money we used that day our budget was 500 hundred dollars I went over that sometimes. Every where I travelled we had to pay for accommodation but I hired a juicy rental so I could stay at a camp site for a cheap amount of money.  Last but not least we could do activity's every where we went in Dunedin I choose to go to the Cadbury world.

Cyber Smart Map!

Yesterday we had a cyber smart lesson and we had to go on the site my google maps. We had to mark a lot of different places like all the schools around mount roskill which is tui mai tui atu. We had to mark things like where you family comes from, the four clusters, the school we last commented on and 5 different country's that people have commented on my blog from. The hardest part of making your own map was adding layers and putting everything in the right place the second challenging thing was finding all the things we had to put on the map.

The Magical World Of Science!

This week Waikowhai Primary School had a magical science show the people that came in to show us science and magic were Richard and Robyn. When they came in they showed us tricks that involve fire, rings, red balls, bubbles and nappies. Out of all of the tricks and magic my favourite part was the fire because he told us what we need to make fire and the three ingredients that you need are fuel, oxygen and heat. My second favourite part was when Richard made huge bubbles telling us what the thinnest object that human eyes can see and we found out that it was bubbles and that was very interesting because he made them so big. There was one bit were they told us they buy 2 boxes full of nappies so the can take out this kind of powder that is called polymer and that turns liquid into a solid.
I wonder how long it takes to get all the powder out of 2 boxes of nappies I also wonder how he was touching the fire with his bare hands did it burn him or heat him up.
Here is a picture of the magic!

My Camp Poem!

A few weeks ago we started a poem and that poem had to be about camp because 2 weeks ago we came back from camp and if you've seen my blog you would have seen my blog post about it. I named my poem Home Sick because it's about when I was back at home my mum use to make me eat a lot of meat and I missed it. When I was going to bed I had to take a seat with my old friend Pete that I made up as I was writing my poem so it could be longer and rhyme a bit more than it did with my other sentences. After we had written the poem we could get a A4 piece of paper and draw something about the poem. I drew a drumstick and myself holding meat, and going to the dinner table. Here are some pictures of the meat and my poem. While we were making the poem it was really challenging to make the drumstick perfect it was also very hard to make the poem rhyme and make scene.

Here is a picture of my poem!

Here is a picture of mt me with meat going to the dinner table!

Camp Booklet's

Last week the senior school went on a school camp to Mount Ruapehu. Before we went we had to start making a slide show and we had to write  what we will do at camp and what we will not do . The slides were about our stops to the National Park where we stayed at when we were there for camp. My slides were about . Snowboarding I fell on my bum but most of the time we had to be really patient then the next day when we went snowboarding I had a lesson and I didn't fall as much as I did the first day and the snow felt like ice mast of the snow was ice. The challenges I had was to keep getting up when I fell over and learning how to stop at the end of the day I learnt how to stop and I didn't give up. When we came from camp we had to finish all the information pages about camp. The information pages were about the things we did and where we went. Then after we were done we could decorate our slides that means we could change the backgrounds and the font and even photos.

Toolkit day!

Yesterday some of the Waikowhai Primary senior students were chosen to go to New Windsor primary school to represent our school student led tool kits. My first sessions was the incredibox and we had to get bonus we also had to make some music while I was there I got to bonus's here is some picture or me making music.

We also played around with code-tastrophe which is an online coding game you play to animate your name I think I got up to the level 13 and then we had to pack up and have lunch. When lunch was finished we had to meet in the hall to have a problem solving challenge from our school we had Izzy, Dora, Anuk ans Joyce but anyway I had a lot of fun and hope to go again here's some more picture of the day.
This is a picture of our problem solving tower. The goal for this was to make a structure made out of straws, tape and a cup the structure had to at least be 10 cm tall and our one was the tallest and it could hold the 100 grams of weight and I think we came first place but they said everyone is a winner.
Last but not least this is our whole senior group that went to represent out part of the student tool kit.

Matariki

Last term me and my class talked about Matariki. When we were talking about Matariki we had to make a google drawing and write a few facts that we know about Matariki I manged to
find out and write ten facts about Matariki. Most of the facts that you see on my google drawings I already knew but some were very hard to find because the same facts keep on coming up on every website that I went on but the whole process was fun and sometimes frustrating.

Compare And Contrast!

Hi, Nevaeh here, last week we did a compare and contrast map with my reading group, we were talking about the different's in a story called Up The Pipe and it was about us using to much hair products and how we need to cut down the products and dish washing liquid. We also read a book called world's water running out, and that book was about how we are wasting to much water other wise we will have no more water and that means we are making a bad future for the kids and people that are still growing up so that is why we should not use these things to much. Feel free to comment.

Painting the town

Hi Nevaeh here, this week we did some reading swap overs and I was in a class with Ms Sands we did some personal response on a book we read called Painting the Town by Renata Hopkins a personal response is when you ask the person that wrote the book questions and you liked and dislike in the book what you think they should improve. What it made you think about, what you didn't understand and what surprised you. so that's what a personal response is and that's what we did thins week and we thought it would be fun to post the piece of work. I loved the book it was a is was a really interesting book with all the paintings and detail. Feel free to comment and check my work out any time.

Moving In

On Monday we moved into our new classrooms. The class's that moved in were Room seven, eight and nine but we have changed our classroom names and now room eight is manukau, room nine is Hauraki and my classroom is waitemata now we are one big group and we altogether are called Te Waka Ako. One of our wonderful hardworking teachers called Ms Sands made a canvas that said Te Waka Ako and had nice bright shapes and symbols in the background  if you've seen you can see all the symbols around our school and we had a grand opening of our new classrooms. Michael wood he had cut our ribbon. The kapahaka group that I was in got to preform in front of the whole school in the cold weather. So then the on that day we moved in and did some work and now we do everything in here but the worst bit was that were not aloud shoes inside because we have to keep the carpet clean and the teachers are not aloud as well and we don't get to eat our food inside but the rest is fine. Take a look at some of the photos. Feel free to leave a comment and share my blog with others.
